Nearly 3,000 new homes nationwide were given consents in March. Of these, 1,082 were in Auckland, and included 492 stand-alone houses, 361 apartments, 221 townhouses, flats, and units, and eight retirement village units.

“About three-quarters of the new apartments consented in March were in Auckland, boosted by three large projects,” construction statistics manager Melissa McKenzie says in a press release.

Stand-alone houses still accounted for 60 per cent of all new homes which received consents across the country in March.
